School Board Meeting Preview - August 2024

On Monday, August 12 and Monday, August 26, the Wauwatosa School Board will meet for its regularly-scheduled meetings. The meetings will be held at the Fisher Administration Building (12121 W. North Avenue) in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, beginning at 6 p.m. on August 12 and 5 p.m. on August 26. A link to the meeting live streams can be found below:

At the first meeting of the month, the Board typically receives presentations and recommendations from District administrators, which are then voted on at the second meeting of the month.

At each meeting, the Board will review the Consent Agenda and hear up to 30 minutes of public comment. 

Then, the work of the Division of Human Resources, Division of Pupil + Family Supports, and the Division of Finance + Operations will be highlighted. Specifically, the Board will be asked to: 

  • Approve the Aurora Student and Family Assistance Program (SFAP)

  • Approve Alternative Student Placements

  • Approve the School Resource Officer Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27 school years

  • Conduct the annual review of our Emergency Nursing Services

  • Approve the Microsoft Licensing Renewal

  • Renew the Employee Benefits Service Contracts for the 2024-25 plan year

  • Approve Employee Transactions 

  • Approve the 2024-26 Administrative Contract for the Longfellow Middle School Principal

  • Receive a 2024-25 Staffing Update

  • Receive recommendations and vote on proposed changes to the WSD Employee Health Insurance Plan

  • Receive recommendations and vote on a proposed change to Self-Funding for WSD Employee Dental Insurance Benefits

  • Receive recommendations and vote on the Health Insurance Stop Loss Carrier for the 2024-25 plan year

  • Appoint an Expulsion Hearing Panel & Alternative Board Member for the First Semester of the 2024-25 school year

  • Receive the Annual Diversity and Inclusion Report

  • Receive the Annual School Culture and Student Success Report

  • Receive the Annual Special Education Update

  • Receive the Semi-Annual Behavior Data Review

  • Review the Projected Student Enrollment Report

  • Review School Safety Audit and School Safety Plans

  • Review the District’s Bullying, Harassment, Discrimination, and Investigation Process

  • Approve an emergency repair on the Washington Elementary School boiler stack

  • Receive a Monthly Financial Report

The Board will also discuss and potentially take action on a proposed resolution to appoint an Expulsion Hearing Panel.
