Dear Whitman Caregivers and Community - 

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year at Whitman Middle School! As principal, I am excited to embark on this journey with you, and I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our returning families as well as those new to our school community. 

At Whitman Middle School, we believe in fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our dedicated staff is committed to providing a high-quality education that inspires students to reach their full potential and become lifelong learners.

We continue to have many exciting programs and pathways to enrich your students' educational experience:

1. Enhanced Curriculum and Instruction: We continue to develop our curriculum to ensure it is rigorous, relevant, and aligned with state standards. This includes integrating technology in meaningful ways to prepare students for the future.

2. Extracurricular Activities: We offer a variety of clubs, sports, and after-school programs designed to cater to diverse interests and talents. We encourage all students to get involved and explore new passions - there truly is “something for everyone!”

3. Community Engagement: Building strong relationships with our families and the broader community is a priority. We will be hosting several events throughout the year, including parent-teacher conferences, family events, and community building opportunities.

4. Student Support Services: Our incredible team of counseling and support staff are here to assist students with academic, emotional, and social challenges. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.

Some important dates to prepare for this school year include:

• Thursday August 1 - Annual Registration opens online in Infinite Campus (Families must complete annual registration in order to view schedules available on August 20th.)

• Tuesday 8/13/24 9:00 am - 3:00 pm - Optional In Person Registration Event at Whitman

• Thursday 8/15/24 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm - Health Department Sponsored Back to School Event at the Rotary Stage at Hart Park

• Wednesday 8/28/24 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm - 6th Grade Open House Medication Drop Off)

• Thursday 8/29/24 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm - 7/8th Grades Open House (Medication Drop Off)

• Tuesday 9/3/24 8:05 am 3:30 pm - Strong Start - Full Day for 6th Grade ONLY - Welcomed by WEB Leaders  

• Tuesday 9/3/24 12:30 pm 3:30 pm - Classes Begin for 7th and 8th Grades  Half Day PM 

• Tuesday 9/10/24 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm - Curriculum Night/Parent Information Night

As we begin this new school year, I encourage all students and families to take advantage of the opportunities available, set high goals, and strive to achieve them. 

Our commitment to you is that Whitman will work tirelessly to serve all of our students - every student, every day. We will celebrate our students’ diversity and embrace their differences, while working in community towards excellence and pride in our identity as Whitman Wolverines.
